Shielding gas costs add up quickly in a busy workshop, so a regulator that makes flow visible pays for itself. Typical ranges are 0-15 L/min for light TIG work and 0-30 L/min for heavy MIG or multi-torch stations, and the flowtube is read at the top of the float or at the needle edge according to the model. Remember that flow settings are taken with gas running, and a draughty site may need a slightly higher value than a closed shop. Keep hoses short and free of kinks, replace cracked tubing, and close the cylinder valve at the end of each shift to prevent slow leaks.
