Acetylene is stored dissolved in acetone inside a porous mass, which allows it to be held safely at around 15 bar. It must never be drawn at more than 1.5 bar from the regulator, and cylinders should be kept upright. Our kit includes an acetylene regulator with the correct clamp or screw connection, an oxygen regulator, and guidance cards that explain pressure limits, purging and lighting order.
Acetylene must never be used with unalloyed copper or high-copper fittings, since explosive acetylides can form. Our kits use brass and steel components rated for acetylene service. If a cylinder becomes warm to the touch, close the valve, move away and call the emergency services.
Typical working pressures for the kit are around 0.5 to 1.0 bar for acetylene and 2.0 to 4.0 bar for oxygen when welding, with higher oxygen pressure for cutting thicker sections. Always follow the tip manufacturer's chart, and never raise acetylene pressure above the marked limit to compensate for a blocked tip. Used cylinders should be returned with valves closed and caps fitted, which lets us check residual pressure and refill them promptly.
The kit follows EN ISO 2503, EN ISO 3821 and ISO 14114 for acetylene equipment, with attention to cylinder valve and hose compatibility.
