📦 Handling & Storage of Acetylene
Store cylinders upright in a ventilated area, secured with a chain or stand, and well away from oxygen cylinders, sparks and heat. Open the valve slowly, no more than one and a half turns, so it can be shut quickly in an emergency. Keep the working pressure of the free gas below 1.5 bar, check hoses and joints with leak-detection fluid rather than a flame, and fit a flashback arrestor at both the regulator and the torch. A warm cylinder that heats up by itself must be reported at once.
