Acetylene for Cutting and Welding โ fast piercing and clean oxy-fuel cuts
Acetylene for cutting and welding is a staple of steel fabrication, demolition and repair, and REAL GAZ supplies it with the oxygen and equipment needed to use it properly.
The high flame temperature brings steel to ignition quickly, so piercing is fast and the kerf stays narrow.
The high flame temperature brings steel to ignition quickly, so piercing is fast and the kerf stays narrow.
Supply and equipment follow EN ISO 3807, ISO 5175 for flashback arrestors and EN ISO 2503 for regulators, suitable for cutting and welding use.
Cutting works by pre-heating steel to about 900 ยฐC with the acetylene flame, then releasing a jet of pure oxygen that burns the metal and blows slag from the cut. Plates up to 300 mm can be cut with suitable nozzles, though thick sections need much more oxygen and a larger cylinder or bundle. For welding, a neutral flame is set by adjusting the acetylene and oxygen valves until the inner cone is sharp and clear.
๐ญ Where Acetylene for Cutting and Welding Is Used
- โ๏ธ Steel fabrication โ straight and bevel cutting of plate for tanks, frames and bridges;
- ๐ฌ Scrap and demolition โ dismantling structures, vessels and heavy machinery on site;
- ๐ฅ Maintenance welding โ repairing cast parts, agricultural machinery and pipework;
- ๐ Shipyards โ hull plate preparation and heating for forming.
๐ก Why Choose REAL GAZ
- โ Complete package โ acetylene, oxygen, torches and hoses from one supplier;
- ๐งช Dependable fill โ cylinders weighed and checked against the filling record;
- ๐ฏ Right-sized supply โ single cylinders for repairs, bundles for continuous production;
- ๐ Safety first โ flashback arrestors and non-return valves recommended on every set;
- ๐ Certificate of Analysis (CoA) โ supplied with every order.
๐ฆ Set-Up Checklist
Fit separate regulators for fuel gas and oxygen, connect through flashback arrestors, and purge each hose briefly before lighting. Light the acetylene first, then add oxygen, and shut down in the reverse order. Replace cracked hoses, and keep both gases away from oil, grease and sparks. Oxygen consumption during cutting is typically higher than acetylene consumption, so plan oxygen supply with the same care, ideally with bundles or liquid oxygen for busy sites.
๐ฌ Quality Control & Safety
- cylinder test date and condition checks;
- solvent weight control;
- oil-free cleaning for oxygen service equipment;
- leak testing of valves and connections.
Cylinders comply with ADR / UN transport rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
