Each function plays a role. The non-return valve stops reverse gas flow. The flame arrestor quenches an advancing flame. The temperature-activated cut-off closes the gas path when heat rises. The pressure-activated cut-off responds to a sudden surge from backfire. A filter at the inlet prevents particles from jamming the valve seat.
